What Is a Matrimonial Valuation?
A matrimonial valuation is a professional assessment of a property’s market value, carried out for the purpose of divorce, separation, or other matrimonial proceedings. Often referred to as a divorce property valuation, it provides an agreed figure to assist with negotiations, mediation, or court proceedings.
An RICS matrimonial valuation is prepared by an independent surveyor and can be relied upon by the parties involved, solicitors and mediators. We can also provide an expert witness valuation if needed which can be relied upon by the courts.
Why a Matrimonial Valuation Is Required
A clear and unbiased property division valuation helps ensure that assets are divided fairly and based on accurate market evidence. In many cases, an independent valuation can help reduce disputes and provide a solid foundation for reaching agreement.
Our experienced matrimonial valuation surveyors provide impartial, RICS compliant reports that are suitable for legal and financial decision making.
How Does the Process Work?
One of our RICS-certified surveyors will arrange a convenient time to inspect the property and carry out the matrimonial valuation. During the visit, they will assess the property’s size, condition, location, and comparable market evidence.
Following the inspection, we’ll prepare a clear RICS matrimonial valuation report, confirming the property’s open market value, so you can determine a fair and appropriate division.
